Geophysical and scientific research vessel secure communications for ocean going use.The design and fabrication of high resolution subsurface geophysical electromagnetic imaging systems involves techniques comparable to that employed to create the most sophisticated defence communications and sensor systems.  The design of telecommunications antennas, amplifiers and filters, and many other telemetry components is straightforward for the staff of Marschall Acoustics Instruments.  Design tools include: Finite Element Method (FEM) solvers, Boundary Element Method (BEM) solvers, and other electromagnetic wave propagation modelling tools; non-linear circuit simulators; advanced circuit board layout software; and test equipment capable of generating and measuring arbitrary signals from DC through VHF.  Subject to some constraints, MAI is equipped to test and measure communications components up to frequencies of several GHz to beyond the UHF range.

Testing of components and subsystems with various pulses (Gaussian, Lorentz, Sine, Sine Squared, Double Exponential, Nyquist), sweeps (Linear, Log, Gapped, Weighted), modulations (AM, FM, DQPSK), and video signals is routine.

Our staff are familiar with a wide range of analog, digital, and spread spectrum communications signalling methods and devices.  This includes block and convolutional codes for error detection and error correction, as well as other methods to ensure genuinely secure communications are received without corruption. Mineral exploration crews and mineral processing operations are expensive. Communications to and from such sites deserve the best, most reliable and secure means commercially practical.
